Well, Well, Well. It seems that this month I get bumped because of Dillinger. Just for the record Dillinger, I ain't happy about this, but I don't have a choice.... Here are the Rules for the Freestyle Tournament. The PA rules will be posted up here in about a week, so keep checking in.

FYE DDR TOURNAMENT FREESTYLE RULES VER.1 (i.e. I AM FINALLY GETTIN AROUND TO THIS)

2 divisions: ROUTINE and FREESTYLEROUTINE DIVISION:Up to 5 people can enter in a routine. Meaning there is no g.ay ass TEAM
and SINGLE division. You have a full 5 minutes to pull your poop off,
from when your name is called. This includes time to start the game, pick the mode, pick difficulty, the song, etc. If you frick up and pick the
wrong difficulty, for example, you can make it up. BUT IF YOU GO OVER THE TIME LIMIT, YOU ARE DISQUALIFIED. SORRY, WE LIKE TO KEEP OUR STUFF RUNNING AT A STEADY PACE. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!Anything connecting with the machine MUST be approved with ME, DILLINGER, FIRST. If I am unsure, I go to Ted, the arcade manager.

Scoring goes as follows: Creativeness: how much thought went into the routine. Was it another Dynamite Rave rip, or an A-Team bite? Don't expect to place. Creativeness doesn't just mean pure originality though, as pure dance routines aren't too original. However, it IS obvious if you made it up on your own, or had outside help.

Flow: did the routine go smoothly? It's also obvious when you SCREW UP and therefore means you didn't prepare very well. Did the moves all go well into each other? Was a move out of place with another? (i.e. going from raving suddenly into 6 stepping across the pad....just doesn'tclick.).All i can think of for that at the moment. I'm enjoying my food.

LITTLE THINGS COUNT . I.E. more respect if done on mirror and facing the crowd/judges, eye contact with judges, good face expression (I DON'T WANT TO SEE ANYONE LOOKING LIKE THEY GOT THE RUNS.), good arm movements, etc. You get the deal. If not, I'll have to SPELL IT OUT in the next revision.

FREESTYLE DIVISION: Ok. This one I still gotta run by Ted, see if there would be time. The goal of this is to see who is the best freestyler. As in, DANCE ON THE SPOT. To my knowlage, me, nugget, and Monty (who hasn't played in foreverand is MIA whenever we go on a trip) are the only DECENT freestylers out there. This is to test all of YOU.

RULES: When you sign up for freestyle, you pick 5 songs out of a pre-selected
list of songs (mabye of about 30/40 to keep it from being stale). When
your name is called, ONE of those 5 is randomly chosen. You pick mode (double mirror, single basic shuffle). You get on the pad and you go to town. And if we see you can already do a double mirror song without looking ONCE, you're out, because that's cheating (memorized it in advanced, made a routine).

Scoring goes as follows:

Creativness: how well did you make sh.it up on wsthe spot? If you went for humor, did you get the crowd going? If you went for style, was it truely something good, not just hiphop style shuffing?

Flow: See above. Did it all go into each other? Did one move lead into
the next? Were you able to miss a few steps and keep dancing without
missing a beat? DID you miss a beat? Again, all I can think of AT THE MOMENT.

There are plenty of revisions along the way. Ted hasn't even seen this yet. Little things count as well.

In freestyle, one thing that really counts (for me at least) is spinning/turning around. If you can turn around for a pretty extended period of time on say, single shuffle, and still be hitting the steps (and this period of time meaning a few seconds or more, as much as you can see on the screen), then you get more points (from me at least).
Sight memorization to me is a very important part of freestyle. Facial expression and eye contact do not come into play here, as you'll generally be looking at the screen.

So that's version one. There will be PLENTY of suprises only to be revealled AT the tourney itself. *snicker* As of RIGHT NOW, I am revealing myself to be one of the judges for this tournament. I will not reveal the others. I want COMMENTS on this, and I MAY take them into account in Ver.2. Catch you on the flipside.
